Method 5 Sampling Train

Overview

The Method 5 Sampling System is designed for accurate isokinetic sampling of particulate matter (PM) emissions. This system withdraws PM from the source and collects it on a glass fibre filter, maintained at 120 ±14°C (248 ±25°F) or another temperature as required by regulations. The PM mass, including condensable material, is determined gravimetrically after the removal of uncombined water.


Method 5G Sampling System

This method is used in conjunction with Method 5, Method 17, or Method 201A, requiring isokinetic sampling conditions to ensure accurate CPM collection. After filterable PM is collected on a filter (as specified by the selected method), the CPM is captured in dry impingers for analysis.
